Malawi has a land surface area of 118,484 km 2 and a population of around 13 million people.
It enjoys a rich diversity of flora and fauna and has nine National Parks or Wildlife Reserves.
- These are Nyika, Kasungu, Lake Malawi, Liwonde & Lengwe – all National Parks as well as the Majete Game Reserve (fast becoming a “big 5” destination), Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve, Project African Wilderness, Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve & Nkhotakota Game Reserve.
There are an estimated 700 fish species in Lake Malawi, most of which are endemic to Malawi as well as over 650 species of birds.
